Teknion is proud to announce that eight of its North American showrooms (Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles, Boston, New York, Dallas, Washington D.C., and Chicago) have achieved The WELL Building Standard (WELL) Platinum Certification this year.
Earning the Platinum Certifications says that these showrooms meet all of the WELL Preconditions, as well as 80% or more of the Optimization Features. The Optimization Features address the quality of air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind and community.
“Our focus has always been on our people, our partners and our environment. We began with LEED certification in 2006 for our facilities. In 2017, we integrated into the design of our offices and showrooms the WELL standards and made very conscious efforts each year to achieve top-level certifications,” said Tracy Backus, director of sustainable programs at Teknion. “These eight showrooms exemplify the importance of environmental stewardship, a magnified concern for safety and well-being, and an amplified need to be seen and included.”
Teknion has a long-standing commitment to an equitable and sustainable future. As a privately held, family-run company, its approach has always been to look beyond quarterly results and focus on a long-term strategy for corporate responsibility. Teknion’s continued commitment to sustainability is rooted in the fact that, as manufacturers, they can directly minimize the environmental impact of production and operational activities while contributing to a healthier built environment with products that support the occupants of the spaces we live and work within.
